Where Did Gartner Position Generative AI Before ChatGPT?

In September 2022, Gartner projected that Generative AI was on an upward trajectory within the Hype Cycle, indicating that peak interest had not yet been achieved.

Gartner's analysis suggested that technologies like ChatGPT, large language models, and image generation tools such as Stable Diffusion and DALL-E were on the brink of reaching peak inflated expectations.
