Rediscovering the Journey: Confidence, Travel, and Work Insights
Written on
Chapter 1: The Essence of Minimalism in Travel
In August 2024, while traveling in Varenna, Italy, I realized the benefits of traveling light with just a carry-on. This approach has streamlined my travels over the past two years, eliminating the hassle of lost luggage and indecision about what to pack. Focusing on what truly matters during trips has led me to value experiences over material souvenirs, often opting for postcards instead.
Despite this, I still find myself returning from trips with unworn clothes. It prompts me to ask: what unnecessary baggage am I still carrying?
Chapter 2: The Olympic Experience and Resilience
Our journey to the Olympics began with extensive planning; we secured tickets in February 2023, dreaming and preparing for this adventure together. Arriving in Marseille on August 4, I faced unexpected challenges: a hot Airbnb, a sudden power outage, and a sore throat that required medication. Yet, witnessing Brazilian women win gold in beach volleyball and dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris made every hurdle worthwhile.
I reflect on my flexibility during this journey. Should I dwell on what went wrong or celebrate the overflowing joy of the experience?
Section 2.1: The Climb to Castello di Vezio
While hiking to Castello di Vezio, I was unprepared for the strenuous trek but grateful for my sneakers. Despite feeling unwell, I persevered, motivated by the beautiful views along the way. It made me ponder how often I overlook the journey itself, solely fixated on reaching my destination.
Subsection 2.1.1: The Beauty of the Process
Chapter 3: Self-Care Amidst Travels
As I write from Como, Italy, I reflect on my recent switch from gel nails to regular polish. Although the latter requires more upkeep, I appreciate the chance to do them myself while traveling. In the midst of the messy application, I remind myself to trust the process; after all, they always look stunning once finished. This reinforces my belief that perseverance leads to improvement.
How frequently do I abandon projects midway due to their imperfect beginnings?
Section 3.1: Embracing Entrepreneurial Challenges
Having transitioned from the corporate world to entrepreneurship nearly two years ago, I struggle with balancing work and travel. My meetings often occur late at night to accommodate various time zones, revealing the unseen processes behind building a dream career.
I ponder the importance of valuing everyday progress, even when it remains invisible.
Chapter 4: The Power of Reflection and Connection
Travel often inspires deep reflection, leading me to document thoughts in both English and Portuguese. My notes app is constantly in use, filled with ideas from mentoring sessions and extensive reading, including works by Sylvia Molloy and bell hooks.
How often do seemingly unrelated experiences converge into meaningful insights when we pay close attention?
