Embracing a Life Without Structure
In the quest for meaning, many often find themselves feeling incomplete. Viktor Frankl, in his seminal work "Man's Search for Meaning," posits that life’s challenges are not unbearable due to circumstances, but rather from a perceived lack of purpose. Recently, I realized that my own search for meaning had concluded, revealing that purpose was merely an illusion.
The true issue was not the absence of meaning, but the feeling of lack that accompanied my search. After years of being consumed by work, the solitude I faced following the loss of my partner was profoundly challenging.
I was once again confronted by the pangs of emptiness. The day stretched before me, devoid of tasks or connections, leaving me feeling as if my existence lacked significance. I longed to appreciate the freedom that came with my newfound life, free from obligations to others. Instead, I felt a familiar desire to escape.
