Chapter 1: Understanding Productivity Dysmorphia

What’s been on my mind lately?
There’s a term that captures a constant struggle of mine: Productivity Dysmorphia. This condition leads you to feel unaccomplished at the end of a busy day, despite having completed numerous tasks. A key feature of this phenomenon is the difficulty in recalling all that you achieved. Often, even a thorough review of your day doesn’t sway your mind from believing that you’ve done little.
How can you overcome this?
Establishing clear productivity goals is essential. I recommend the Ivy Lee Method, which involves identifying the six most significant tasks to tackle each day. This approach proved so effective that in 1918, renowned businessman Charles Schwab compensated productivity consultant Ivy Lee with $25,000—equivalent to over $400,000 today.
Limiting yourself to just six tasks, combined with tangible evidence of your progress, equips you with the necessary proof to counter feelings of inadequacy at the end of each day. Below is an entry from my journal showcasing the Ivy Lee Method:
Chapter 2: The Purpose of Life – A New Perspective
As I reflect on my beliefs, I find myself reconsidering the purpose of life. Initially, I viewed it as a journey of growth, then thought it was centered around love. Now, I’m exploring the idea that perhaps life’s true purpose is to learn. This includes learning how to love ourselves and others, discovering our unique talents, and understanding our resilience when faced with challenges.
I define failure as achieving an outcome that contradicts your aspirations. For instance, a student aiming for an A+ may see a C as a failure, while another student merely hoping to pass would view it as a success.
Here's a transformative thought: if your primary goal is to learn, every experience becomes a teacher. As long as you’re attentive enough to extract lessons from each situation, true failure becomes impossible. So, the next time you find yourself juggling chainsaws and something goes awry, consider it a lesson rather than a setback.

Quote of the Week
“If you’re always right, you’re not learning. If you’re never failing, you’re not reaching. The objective is to be right. The objective is to succeed. But if you’re always winning, you’re undershooting your potential.”
— James Clear
Chapter 3: The Importance of Work Satisfaction
Currently, I’m engrossed in an article titled "Why You Hate Work." It highlights how employee satisfaction and productivity increase when four key needs are met:
- Physical: Opportunities to recharge regularly.
- Emotional: Feeling valued for contributions.
- Mental: Ability to focus on important tasks.
- Spiritual: Engaging in what brings joy and connecting to a higher purpose.
Interestingly, employees who take breaks every 90 minutes report a 30% increase in focus compared to those who take fewer or no breaks.
What I Wrote Recently
Last week, I composed a poem titled "Would You Believe Me — If I Told You?" along with an article about how Seneca altered my views on normalcy.
