Maximizing Your Potential: Treat Yourself as Your Flagship Product
Written on
Chapter 1: Understanding Your Value Proposition
What if you approached your life with the same care and strategy that you would apply to a business? Consider how you could enhance your own value.
You Are Your Own Flagship Product “The primary aim of any enterprise is to improve lives in some manner. The value you offer can manifest in various ways. The greater the genuine value you deliver, the more successful your venture will be, leading to greater prosperity.” (Personal MBA, J. Kaufman, 2020)
Before envisioning yourself as a product for potential customers, let's explore who your target customers are and what they would pay for your offerings:
- Employers compensate you with monetary rewards. Your profit in this life-business model is your salary and the social capital you accrue.
- Family and Friends invest their time and energy. The returns here are the social connections and emotional wealth you build.
- Spouse and Children contribute their love, time, energy, and resources. This segment has significant potential to enhance your overall happiness.
Now that we've identified your customer base, reflect on the attributes that you, as a product, should offer to satisfy each group's needs:
For your family and friends: - Security (both physical and emotional) - Household management skills - Emotional support - Reliability, Accountability, Responsibility (RAR) - Enjoyment and ease - Guidance for younger generations
For employers, they look for: - A skill set that is economically advantageous. - A positive attitude, as no one enjoys a repetitive job that drains their enthusiasm. - Soft skills; being exceptionally skilled in your field is not enough if you struggle with time management or teamwork.
Ultimately, the essence of your product comes from you: What type of person do you aspire to be? Do you want to be esteemed? Connected? Wealthy? Independent? Stress-free? Healthy?
