Striving for Equality: A Reflection on Humility and Mental Health
Written on
Chapter 1: The Disparities of Wealth
Over 70% of the global population is comprised of individuals living in poverty, leaving a mere 30% classified as wealthy. This imbalance can severely impact mental well-being, as those in poverty often find themselves at the mercy of the affluent. The existing societal structures are inherently biased, and the legal systems frequently fail to uphold justice. True equality seems elusive; without the collective voice of the impoverished, their struggles go largely unheard, while the utterances of a wealthy individual are often met with widespread attention, regardless of their coherence.
In Darwin's theory of evolution and the sociological perspective of Herbert Spencer, the idea of "survival of the fittest" posits that only the strong should endure, leaving the weak to falter.
Section 1.1: The Paradox of Generosity
Why do we see wealthy figures like Bill Gates engaging in philanthropy? When a rich person performs an act of kindness that a poor individual does daily without recognition, society often lauds it as an act of humility.

Section 1.2: The Quest for Equality
Who owes loyalty to whom? Perhaps this dynamic stems from social class distinctions. Will true equality ever be realized? Honestly, I remain skeptical; systemic oppression, discrimination, and prejudice appear to be entrenched.
It is vital not to let anyone belittle or demean you. Every life holds significance, and each person deserves respect, irrespective of their background. It raises the question: why can't we dismantle class structures? These divisions are man-made, similar to caste systems that marginalize certain groups.
The treatment of the impoverished in society often undermines their existence and adversely affects their mental health. There should be equitable opportunities for all, with positions awarded based on merit—an idea famously articulated by Plato.
Chapter 2: The Value of Humanity
Do you accord respect to individuals solely based on their wealth? What does this say about your humanity?
This piece draws inspiration from my extraordinary mother, “Over-50 Empress.” She embodies self-celebration and positivity—an attitude I greatly admire.
