Everyone faces challenges at some point, and you may be going through a tough time right now. Are you feeling weighed down, disheartened, or lacking in joy? Consider that many of the troubles we encounter are often self-created. Individuals who are impatient or quick to judge tend to attract their own difficulties. Why not seek out love and happiness instead?
The wise once said, “I despise life; all that occurs in daylight is troubling to me; it’s all meaningless, like chasing the wind.” Does worrying yield any benefits? Can it enhance anyone's life? Constant worry can harm your physical well-being, sap your energy, and hinder your productivity, leaving you feeling stuck. Anxiety can lead to irritability, tangled thoughts, and a dull existence. As Job expressed, “Let my troubles be weighed; my calamities are heavier than the sand of the sea; thus my words are hasty.” A gentle soul can become burdened and quick to speak due to overwhelming troubles.

Consider the story of a wealthy man, who despite his millions, felt deeply troubled every day. He believed none of his family genuinely cared for him, thinking they only valued his wealth. In an attempt to escape, he built a villa away from his home. Yet, living there only deepened his troubles; he even feared that his remaining servant was motivated by money. Ultimately, he chose solitude, which led to his demise, starving alone in his villa.
This illustrates how troubles often stem from a mindset filled with doubt. When one lives in a constant state of skepticism, their issues multiply and become increasingly severe. It's crucial to understand that for our mental faculties to work optimally, they must be free from unnecessary burdens. A mind ensnared by worry, while still active, often lacks clarity, agility, and logic, ultimately harming oneself.

As Jesus wisely asked, “Which of you can add a moment to your life through worry? Why be anxious about your clothes? Observe how the lilies grow; they neither toil nor spin.” It's true—our minds can become cluttered with worries. Many choose to suppress their concerns, burying them deep within, which is a misguided approach.
If you find yourself troubled, it’s vital to express your feelings openly. Talk to a trusted friend, an elder, a mentor, or a family member about your concerns. Sharing your burdens can pave the way for relief. A person once reached out to me, distressed because she wasn’t invited to her best friend’s wedding. She felt slighted and confused. After we talked, I reminded her that living well shouldn't depend on how others treat you. This realization lifted a weight off her shoulders, and soon after, she felt a renewed sense of joy.
God has crafted each of us in our own way; don’t allow worry to consume your days. Face reality with courage, and avoid dwelling excessively on the past. Excessive worrying distorts our perception and amplifies our anxieties. Picture worry as a dark cloud overhead; if your heart remains clear, such burdens will have no power over you.
